Welcome to the final part of Charlotte’s Universe. I have had such a great time sharing this pattern with you and getting to know you a little bit. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey. I sincerely hope that you had fun, that you made new friends, and that you learned a thing or two along the way (mainly about your mad skills as a creator).
This week we create a simple solid border to frame everything nicely. No fancy stitches, no new tricks (unless you continue on with the bonus rounds for Pink Charlie)… just simple, mindful stitches.
If you would like to keep growing your Charlotte, you can always add parts of Around the Bases or any other pattern that grows in the round as a square.
The Facebook and Ravelry groups won’t be going anywhere soon, so if you are still busy with Charlotte, take your time :)
Thank you again,
xxx Dedri

Pink Charlie Extra Rounds
This extension is a bonus part for the Pink Charlie Colourway, so the suggested colours are specific to that colourway. You are welcome to add it to your blanket if you want to grow it a little bit more. For this part, we are using the Border we used for Charlotte’s Dream and Sophie’s Dream.
The Popcorns in this part are Really Lazy Popcorns. They are created over 2 rounds. In Round 2, you will make a series of 5-dc groups. In Round 3, you will turn these 5-dc groups into Popcorns by using front post stitches.
Please note that there is no video for these extra rounds.

Bonus Round 1 (Colour B)
Join your yarn by making a standing Dc in any ch-2 corner sp. (Dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the same sp. This is your first corner made.

Bonus Round 2 (Colour A)
Join your yarn by making a standing dc in any ch-2 corner sp. (Dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the same sp. This is your first corner made.
*(Ch 2, skip the next 2 sts, make 5 dc in the next st) until you have 2 sts left. Ch 2 and skip the last 2 sts. (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the next ch-2 corner sp.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat. Join to the first dc with a sl st. Fasten off and work away your ends.
Stitch Count Per Side: 4 dc, 94 5-dc groups and 95 ch-2 sps – not including ch-2 corner sps
Bonus Round 3 (Colour B)
To make a FPhdc around a 5-dc group, yarn over and insert your hook from front to back into the ch-2 sp before the 5-dc group. Insert your hook from back to front into the next ch-2 sp so that the 5 dc sts lie on top of your hook. Complete your hdc as normal, making sure that your working yarn is above the 5 dc, not in front of them. This will pull the 5 dc together and form a neat Popcorn. If you want more help, have a look at my tutorial for the Really Lazy Popcorn.
Join your yarn by making a standing hdc in any ch-2 corner sp. (Hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in the same sp. This is your first corner made.
*Hdc in the first 2 sts and make 2 hdc in the first ch-2 sp. (Make a FPhdc around the next 5-dc group, make 2 hdcs in the next ch-2 sp) until you have worked into every ch-2 sp. Hdc in the last 2 sts. (2 hdc, ch 2, 2 hdc) in the next ch-2 corner sp.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat. Join to the first hdc with a sl st. Fasten off and work away your ends.
Stitch Count Per Side: 292 sts (94 FPhdc and 198 hdc – not including ch-2 corner sps)
And there you have it. I will finish this post with a quote from the last part of Sophie’s Universe:
And so all good things must come to an end! However, although this might be the end of his project, it is only the start of your journey; be it a journey of learning, a journey of healing, a journey of friendship, or a journey of discovery.
“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” – Winston S. Churchill

Bonjour,

Hi I wanted to crochet Charlotte in the space for grace sky light colour way but I can not get 109 would you be able to recommend an alternative as I brought the other two colours and was waiting for 109 to come back into stock but it looks like they have discontinued the colour. Was not sure if a green in the colour would work as a replacement?
Jenny Lowman says
Hi Vicky. I don’t know where you are based, but a U.K. Google search seems to find the 109 undyed yarn available in several online stores.
I would go for a pale colour myself, but maybe try making up the square with the green and see how you feel?

Please…:-)

Dedri Uys says
Hi Bridget,
I have not made an entire rainbow blanket. I am just using those colours for most of the photo tutorials. You can find a list of the colours I used under FAQ in the information post. I don’t have round-by-round colours because I only started using them in Part 7, I think. But I am working on that.

Dedri I was so excited to hear about Charlotte’s Universe & your pattern is amazing. I loved adding each part to see how it came out, just like Sophie & again I marvelled at the processes you went through to create her, not to mention the time you put into her.
Thankyou so much for sharing your work with us all & the snippets of your processes.
You have taught me so much through your patterns & they are so enjoyable to do.
Thankyou again.
