Welcome to Part 3 of the Maya’s Meadow CAL. This week we will make 24 Petal Raindrops, which we will turn into four Large Flowers next week. For those interested in making Maya’s Meadow in Whirl or another single colour, you can find Alternative single-colour instructions (without fastening off) at the end of this post.
After the many millions of back post stitches last week, I am sure you will appreciate the lacy nature of this week’s motif! I cannot wait to see photos of ALL your raindrops together :) A colourful storm!

Instructions
Make 6 Raindrops in each of Colourways 9 – 12.
Round 1: Into a magic ring, ch 5 (counts as tr + ch-1), tr, 12 dc. Join to the fourth ch of the beg ch-5 with a sl st. {12 dc and 2 tr – not including ch-1 sp}
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc throughout). [2 dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc] in the ch-1 corner sp. Dc in the next 3 sts, the first one of which will be hidden, here and throughout. Make 2 dc in each of the next 8 sts. Dc in the last 2 sts. Join to the top of the beg ch-3 with a sl st. {26 dc and 2 tr – not including ch-1 sp}
Round 3: Ch 3. Dc in the next 3 sts. [2 dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc] in the ch-1 corner sp. Skip the first (hidden) st. Dc in the next 6 sts. (Make 2 dc in the next st, which will be the second dc of the increase from the previous round. Dc in the next st) 8 times. Dc in the last st. Join to the top of the beg ch-3 with a sl st. Fasten off and work away your ends. {39 dc and 2 tr – not including ch-1 sp}
Round 4: Join your yarn by making a standing dc in the ch-1 corner sp. [Dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc] in the same ch-1 sp. Dc in the next 8 sts. [Dc, 3 hdc] in the next st. (Skip the next st, which may be hidden by the hdc sts, sl st in the next st, skip the next st, [3 hdc, ch 1, 3 hdc] in the next st) 5 times. Skip the next st, sl st in the next st, skip the next st, [3 hdc, dc] in the next st, marking the dc with a SM. Dc in the next 8 sts. Join to the top of the first dc with a sl st. Fasten off and work away your ends. {22 dc, 36 hdc, 2 tr, and 5 ch-1 sps – not including corner ch-1 sp and sl sts}
Round 5: Join your yarn by making a standing dc in the ch-1 corner sp. [Dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc] in the same ch-1 sp. Hdc in the next 12 sts. Ch 5. Make a Puff Stitch in the ch-1 sp of the first Petal. (Ch 5, make a Puff Stitch in the ch-1 sp of the next Petal) 4 times. Ch 5, hdc in the marked st. Hdc in the next 11 sts. Join to the top of the first dc with a sl st. {4 dc, 24 hdc, 2 tr, 5 Puff Stitches, and 6 ch-5 sps – not including ch-1 sp}
Round 6: Ch 3. Dc in the next 2 sts. [2 dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc] in the ch-1 corner sp. Dc in the next 15 sts. (Make 7 dc in the next ch-5 sp, FPdc around the next Puff Stitch) 5 times. Make 8 dc in the last ch-5 sp. Skip the first hdc, which will be hidden anyway. Dc in the next 11 sts. Join to the top of the beg ch-3 with a sl st. {76 dc, 5 FPdc, and 2 tr – not including ch-1 sp}
Round 7: Ch 2 (counts as hdc). Hdc in the next 5 sts, the first of which will be tricky to get into. [2 dc, tr, ch 1, tr, 2 dc] in the ch-1 corner sp. Hdc in the next 20 sts. The last hdc should fall in the second dc made into the first ch-5 sp. (Make 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 5 sts) 7 times. Make 2 hdc in the next st. Hdc in the next 14 sts. Join to the top of the beg ch-2 with a sl st. Fasten off and work away your ends. {91 hdc, 4 dc and 2 tr – not including ch-1 sp}
