I want to get the written pattern for Sophie’s Universe. Please let me know exactly how to download this.
Thanks
Jenny Lowman says
At the end of each part of the pattern, under Dedri’s signature, there is an option to create a PDF (Print Friendly button).
If this is not suitable, you can purchase the book of Sophie’s Universe instead :)
Joanne Morrow says
Hi Dedri, I am looking for a paid pattern. It was a design that morphed into a heart. Can you point me in the right direction, please. Thank you.
Jenny Lowman says
Hi Joanne. I believe you are referring to the heart mandala by Louisa Shewood aka Thefibrelounge, and entitled Love Yourself Madala.
Here is the Ravelry link

Can I do all of my Amazon shopping via your site
I can’t find the “straight” double crochet edge instructions. Where are they?
All of our grandchildren love the crocheted toys.
Thanks for the help
Best
Marianne
Jenny Lowman says
Dedri has affiliate links via Amazon. I am not sure that you can do all your Amazon shopping via her links though. Maybe give it a try!
I am not quite sure what you mean by “straight” double crochet edge? I searched for that term in the blog and nothing jumps out, so am a bit confused by this.

Hi
I’ve just purchased the Celestial Mandala pattern and can’t wait to start! I just want to check that the pattern is in UK terms. I’m pretty sure it is but I can’t find it stated anywhere. I probably can’t see for looking!
Thank you.
Dedri Uys says
Hi Clare,
It is UK terms. I haven’t seen a copy of the PDF, but I will request one so that I can see if that needs to be added there as well. Thank you for flagging it up. I hope you have a lot of fun making the mandala x

KAREN LUCAS says
Hi Dedri
WOW 5 years i have been holding the book and wool for Sophie’s blanket as cant get the nerve up to start it in case in stuff up My boyfriend now husband bought it for me and ask well!!! i know we try new things to grow but at 55 years old i dont wont to let you down xx silly me xx
Dedri Uys says
Hi Karen. Just give it a try with us. Worst case scenario, you have to frog and use the yarn for something else. Best case scenario, you make a Sophie!!! There are so many people who are willing to help and answer questions. x
Jeanine says
Hi!
I was just looking around the net early this morning, enjoying my dish of blueberries. I came across your website and so far I’ve found several things that are of interest to me. I’ve never heard of the Amish puzzle balls before and they look like they would be fun to make, especially for my 4 month old nephew. When I’m more awake, I’m going to have to look closer to what else you have! lol Another thing I like about all the pattern’s are the colors that are being shown on here. They are lovely and very lively!!! I’m presuming that you did this yourself. Good job! Thanks! OH……Good morning!!
Dedri Uys says
Hi Jeanine.
I love that you were scrolling the web over a dish of blueberries :) I’m not nearly awake enough in the mornings to scroll anything over any kind of healthy breakfast.
Michelle says
Hi Dedri and Jenny,
I just came across a picture of Sophie’s Dream (blanket) in my copy of “Crochet Now”. To say that it stopped me in my tracks is an understatement. It is so beautiful, and I am hoping my crochet skills are up to the challenge some day.
I followed to “Look at what I made”, and imagine my delight at discovering that you are also the designer of the Amamari Puzzle Balls. I fell in love with them through Annie’s Crochet, and bought the book, but haven’t had the opportunity to make any yet :(
I have you bookmarked now, so even if I don’t get a chance to make all the designs I would like to, I will always enjoy coming to see your beautiful work and the stories that go with them.
Thankyou so very, very much!
Dedri Uys says
Hi Michelle. Thank you for your lovely, enthusiastic comment :) I’m so pleased that you like Sophie’s Dream and the Puzzle balls x

Lydia Potgieter says
So happy to have found you. You work is beautiful. Cannot wait to see Lynda
Dedri Uys says
Hi Lydia.
With a name surname like Potgieter, am I remiss in thinking that you might be Afrikaans too? Have you seen the Lydia blanket I shared roughly two years ago? The Lydia it was named after is a Calitz (from Calitzdorp). You can have a look HERE.
Gay McDonald says
Hi Dedri, thanks for sharing your beautiful patterns. I’m working on Sophie’s Universe and loving the journey so much I will feel the loss when it’s done! Just looking around and deciding which project to take on next. Again, thanks for your generosity. Best wishes
Jenny says
Hello Gay. I had the same problem and ended up making Sophie’s Dream Blanket. I am now on my third version with yet another in the planning pipeline!
BW Jenny :)
Kathleen says
Does anyone know who did this pattern with different shades of blues? This us a stunning blanket, I just wanted to know what type of yarn and colors used…it doesn’t look like I can show a photo here.
Thank you

Sharon Blignaut made the blue and white version. You can find all her details on her Ravelry projects page. I’ve tried to google it, but I keep being redirected to many pattern-farming Pinterest sites. It IS findable because I have found it before, I’m just not finding it at the moment.

Scratch that, I just found someone who shared the link!!!

Carli Hinton says
My friends and family are in awe over Sophie. I have posted pics of her in various growth stages on Facebook and now awaiting the Jack pack to grow her even bigger for my king-sized bed. I have even started a parallel universe version of her in Red Heart yarn which is more readily available here in the U.S. than the Sheepjes yarn from Wool Warehouse. Thanks for all YOUR hard work that makes me look so talented! And yes I showed them your book.
Dedri Uys says
Carli, hi. I hope you take some of that credit for yourself. YOU made her, not me. YOU should get the credit. Enjoy your alternate universe x

I do have a question about the little squares you are showing along with some of the pages of the ‘Colour Book’. Question is, will you make this square available to us also? I love it, beauty in simplicity.
Dedri Uys says
Hi Katherine. Thank you. The squares will be made available on my site :)
