This is the first of the two crochet shrugs I made Bine for her birthday. Why two? Because, after having started this one, I wasn’t sure that she would like it, so I made the second one. And then I wasn’t so sure that she would like that one, so I finished this one and gave her a choice. She seems to like both, so I bid her have them as they were not made to fit me anyway.
Cream Crochet Shrug Pattern
Size
UK Size 12-14 (US Size 10 – 12)
Materials
- 10 mm Crochet hook
- Chunky yarn
- Yarn needle
Gauge
10cm x 10cm (4″ x 4 “) = 9 st’s and 10 rows.
This pattern is worked into the back loops only, so it stretches quite a bit. I have taken the measurements after stretching the swatch out a bit. At rest I measured 12 rows in 10 cm’s.

So enjoyed reading your pattern. I like to know what’s ahead, when I contemplate a project. And thanks for making it FREE! Such a cute rendition of one, I am working on now. Glad you shared. Unless a person is a super fast crotcher , you rarely get all the cool patterns accomplished, sometimes they become your bucket list,so to speak.

What size hook is this in “us” I can’t seem to find -1cm
I would like to knit it, so looking for the right size to try..
Dedri Uys says
Hi Barbara. a 1 cm hook is the same as a 10 mm hook. You can find the US/UK equivalent here.

Don’t happen to have this pattern in childs size 6-8
Dedri Uys says
Unfortunately I don’t, Debbie. If I had to guess I would say half the size would do it (so half the stitches and half the rows), but I don’t know for sure, sorry. If you do feel up to experimenting and find an answer I would love to know!

I have attempted one this size based on a measurement of 115cm wrist to wrist and 30cm shoulder to shoulder (7yr old)… With 10mm hook and double stranded suggested yarn (I used 2x 10ply), chain 89, sc in 2nd chain, sc to end, 88sts… Chain 1, sc in back loop only to end… (as per this pattern) I completed 29 rows… To make up, fold in half, seam over first 24sts, slip stitch next 40sts (one side), seam last 24sts… (again as per this pattern) Finish accordingly… I used fpdc/bpdc to make cuffs and the border only by preference…
Size may need tweaking, but my math worked out ok this time… Thank you Dedri for the inspiration, I’m glad to have come across this…
Hopefully this guides/helps you… It was awesome to do a mummy and me twinning set… Adjust accordingly as outcome may vary…

What size is this in the US?
Dedri Uys says
Hi Hope, it is a 8 – 10 US, if Google is to be trusted.
