Welcome to Part 8 of the Charlotte’s Universe crochet-along. I loved watching your Petal borders start to blossom last week, and am really looking forward to seeing this week’s part grow in your hands.
This week, we will use simple stitches and front post stitches, with the occasional corner popcorn thrown in for fun. Can you already see the grape hyacinths starting to form?
Your work will start to ruffle in this part. Please don’t worry about it!

Round 76 (Colour A)
Keep your tension relaxed when making the ch-3 sps. When working into the back loops only, your stitches might look very “stretchy”. Don’t worry about it! It will all magically work out.
Join your new yarn by making a standing dc in any ch-2 corner sp. (Dc, Ch 2, 2 dc) in the same sp. This is your first corner made.
*(FPdc around the next sc {Photo 1}. Hdc in the BLO of the first tr of the next Petal. Sc in the BLO of the second tr {Photo 2}. Ch 3 {Photo 3}and skip the next 4 tr and the Picot. Sc in the BLO of the seventh tr. Hdc in the BLO of the last tr {Photo 4}) until you have worked into every petal. FPdc around the next sc. (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the next ch-2 corner sp {Photo 6}.*
Repeat from * to * 3 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat. Join to the first dc with a sl st.
Don’t worry about flicking the ch-3 sps to the back of your work. You can do that later.

Round 77 (Colour A)

Alison Locke says
I know it probably says somewhere but which yarn and colours are you using for the rainbow option?
Jenny Lowman says
I believe Dedri has yet to reveal the Rainbow Charlotte colours. I think it is being made with Scheepjes Softfun yarn.
Margaret Kostelecky says
Is there a reason we can’t go into the center of the picot instead of into the 2nd stitch?
Jenny Lowman says
I have to admit to going in to the centre of the picot myself, to no negative effect Margaret. I think going into the second stitch keeps it nice and neat.
Martina Wetzel says
Please can you sah me when the german translation come? Thank you
Dedri Uys says
Hi Martina.
My volunteer translator is working on it. It shouldn’t be too much longer.
