These Terms of Use apply to patterns designed by me (Dedri Uys), or by another person, expressly for use on Lookatwhatimade.net.
These Terms of Use do not apply to other designers’ patterns I have made and featured. You should see their individual Terms of Use for sharing/selling/photo policies.
You may use the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net to make projects for yourself, your friends and your family.
You may use the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net to make projects for the charity of your choice.
You may use the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net to make projects for public or private raffles.
You may use the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net to make projects which you intend to sell at any venue, online or live, including but not limited to Etsy, eBay, Artfire, etc.
If you intend to sell projects made from the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net, I would appreciate it if you link back to my website (not the PDF of the actual pattern if one exists) and/or credit me as the designer.
While you are allowed to make the projects from Lookatwhatimade.net for sale, you may NOT use my photos for selling your projects. You’re going to have to make the item and produce your own photos. You can’t use mine.
You may not use the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net for mass production. You can sell the projects, but let’s keep it reasonable.
If you intend to sell projects made from any of the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net, please consider contacting me with the information since I may use this information when developing new designs.
You may use the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net to develop classes which you intend to teach in live venues. (No online classes or online video tutorials without permission.) Please have your students visit my page and hard print the pattern for the class. Don’t just print it and make a lot of copies. At least allow me to get the traffic from my patterns. What you teach in class is your business. My patterns are my business. Allow me to continue with my business.
You may print the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net and give them to your offline friends, as long as my name and website information remains intact. (For example: Do not copy/paste into a Word document, deleting all the information except the pattern and then distribute it.) This is handy for your grandmother who would like the pattern. However, when sharing with your online friends, please simply give them a link to the page. It’s a win-win for both of us. I make a small amount (VERY small) when people visit my website. As long as I continue to make some form of income from my free patterns, I will continue providing them. If everyone copies and shares the patterns, I have no way of making an income from it. I work hard to provide these patterns and I prefer not to work for free. I wouldn’t ask you to work for free and I don’t expect you to ask me to work for free. If you want the free patterns to continue flowing, share the link.
You may not claim any of the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net as your own pattern.
You may not sell the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net. (Yes, believe it or not, this is necessary. There are actually people selling free patterns found online. This is not allowed with the free patterns found on this site.)
You may not use any of the free patterns you find on Lookatwhatimade.net to make a kit for sale without permission. |
Now that you have read all the policies, head over to my Free Crochet Patterns and Tutorials to get started.
These policies have been taken (and amended) from Kim Guzman’s site CrochetKim.com. Thank you for allowing me to nab your policies, Kim!
If you are a Kim Guzman fan, or would like to learn more about Tunisian Crochet, you can now buy Kim Guzman’s Tunisian Crochet Stitch Guide, available as a paperback or in digital format. This is a very handy resource. My husband kindly got me one for my birthday!
Happy Hooking!

I appreciate your free patterns. I have been crochet for years. I came upon them will searching for a different type of granny square to make a jacket. I do not have it put together yet. It is still in my head but I want to use a different square for a jacket. Sophie’s universe was the first that I found. I also looked at your other squares. This is for personal use. When ask if I made my jacket I will say yes but I used your patterns and whoever else’s patterns I use in my jacket. Any advice? These patterns are great. Thank you so much for these patterns.
Dedri Uys says
Hi Shelia. I hope you have a lot of fun making your jacket. You are welcome to make (and sell, if you wish) anything with my patterns. My restrictions only apply to copying or selling the actual pattern. Enjoy!

Sophie is OUTSTANDING. I have crafted (knit/crochet/tat) for well over 50 years but this was my first CAL and I am impressed with your skills, sharing, and photography. I gained a better knowledge of individual stitches and techniques as she grew. I looked specifically for your ‘terms’ and am pleased we can raffle my finished Sophie for our local nursing home’s Residents’ Fund (used for outings, pizza parties, etc.) I am not sure how it might be advertised (maybe online…or not?) but will make certain a link to your website is always provided as well as on a tag attached to her. Thank you for your skills and sharing. I am not on FB nor do I have a website–but have put various photos of her on the map link (New Smyrna Beach, FL) and on my Ravelry page–each finished part and and several of our kids (kats!) with her….again, THANK YOU! ~zellajane goodwin, New Smyrna Beach, FL~
